What is snake pearls?

Snake pearls, also known as nagamani, are a supposed type of pearl that is believed to be found in the heads of certain species of snakes, especially cobra and vipers. They are highly valued in some Asian cultures and are believed to possess supernatural powers, such as providing protection from evil spirits, curing diseases, and bringing good luck.

However, there is no scientific evidence to support the existence or properties of snake pearls. In reality, the supposed pearls are actually calcified formations that form in the heads of some snakes due to various reasons, such as injury, infection, or mineral accumulation.

Despite the lack of scientific evidence, the belief in snake pearls persists in some cultures, and there is even a black market for these supposed pearls. This has led to the killing of thousands of snakes every year in parts of Asia, putting several species at risk of extinction. It is important to note that killing snakes for their supposed pearls is illegal and unethical.
